5th May 2012 : We reached Risikesh main bus stop at about 6am. I came here before, but the hills surrounding the bus stop delighted me always. I smiled just like a school girl, who get top ranked :). Everytime I fell that I reached my own place, I don’t know why hills attract me so much. From the bus stop we came to know “Bhuk Hartal” left at about 5:00am.So took other bus for Rudra Prayag.
Bus started at about 6:30 am. I can’t remember, from where I read, that left side of driver seat gives better road sideview. So we took our seat at left side. But after few mints it proves me a duffer L. Amit managed a seat of opposite side. He consolidated me not to worry, we can interchange our seat. But I was too much upset. Again God smiled. Amit's co passenger, most probably an local person, offered his seat to me. I am too much happy. Thanked him from my heart.
The road is awesome, I don’t have so much stock of word to describe the beauties of nature. Narrow road, one side hilly wall & other side deep “Khai” & at the bottom of the “Khai” river Ganga. The colour of the water is greensih blue.
At devopryagAlkannda & Bhagirathi touches each other.I saw it in net as picture, now it is in reality. At about 10am, we reached Srinagar & about 12:30pm Rudraprayag. At Deboprayag, ganga touches Alkananda. Every time when I searched Devprayag, I found that pic, now the pic is in reality. At about 10:30 am, we reached Srinagar & about 12:30 we reached Rudra Prayag. There we took our breakfast cum lunch from a rod side restaurant. Food is too costly and proportional to bad in taste. Then we were waiting for Ukhimath Bus.
Fortunately We got a shared jeep for Ukhimath (Rs. 70/-) per head.River Alkanada company us all our way.we crossed some small town.we saw Gharwali lady with a huge “lakri”.At about 3 pm we reached ukhimath & came to know there is no public transport at that time for chopta. We surprised, as I did not any idea about that situation. we only found some private jeep.we got panicked. At last we hired a jeep Rs 800/- for only 30km. Actually it is their tricks. Public transport is available till 5 pm. To earn money these people creates such panic.
Any way we reached Chopta at about 4pm.On our way we crossed “Bagiyal”, green medow. You can’t expect such greenery on such a height. We booked a dhaba cum hotel for the night Rs300/- .They provide 4 bed which obviously excess for us.Then we took half an hour to fresh ourselves & took a walk on the ear by locality. Here we took “masaladar” Tea & maggi. Tea is awesome taste.
I wanted to spent night at Tunganath as it would be our exclusive experience to spend night above 12000ft. Local people told us it is a 3 km trek which will take hardly 3 hrs, but Amit was not agree to start trekking at that time. In chopta you can’t find electricity. they use solar light. So light is available from 7pm to 10pm.We took a sleep for an hour, as we were too much tired. At about 9pm, when we wake up, we found no light anywhere, We city person cann’t consider candle light as light :P actually this was a cloudy day, so there was not enough sun light. Next day was a full moon day, so outside the dhaba floded with silver light, it is also a exclusive experience for we city person.
Chopta is surrounded by a high hill with greenery. So moon light creates an special effect in the greenery. We took our candle light dinner with Rice & egg curry. The weather was cold, we took 3 blanket.
